Wines & Vines, the 4th Annual Creative Challenge Exhibit

Wines & Vines - An All-Media Arts Challenge
Sponsored by Friends of Franklin Park Arts Center

July 13 – August 18, 2013

Regional artists and craftspeople in all media were invited to participate in Wines & Vines, a juried creative challenge exhibition sponsored by Friends of Franklin Park Arts Center. Wines & Vines  features creative works in a variety of visual media. Cash prizes of $200.00 for Most Creative Piece and $100.00 for Friends Choice will be awarded.

Wines & Vines will be on display in the Gallery from July 13-August 18, 2013. The public is invited to a reception for participants on July 21st from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

The Challenge

We asked artists to take inspiration from Loudoun wineries and vineyards, use at least one element from a local Loudoun winery in their piece, and to identify the specific local winery that inspired.

  • Any media was eligible and encouraged
  • Artists used at least one element from a local Loudoun winery (label, bottle, grapevine, wine glass, grape stains, menu, napkin, vine cuttings, printed winery menus or napkins, photos of local wines and/or vines, corks, glass bottles, the wine-making process, etc.)

  • Artists wrote a short statement (35 words or less) about their piece about what it means, what inspired them to create it, how it connects to the theme of the show, etc.

All artwork is for sale:

  • Packing and shipping of any sold artwork is the responsibility of the artist
  • Any work sold is subject to a 20% commission payable to Friends of Franklin Park Arts Center
  • All artwork will remain on view throughout the exhibition period

Awards and Judging:

  • All pieces submitted to the show will be judged prior to the opening. Two prizes will be awarded at the reception: 
Most Creative Piece — $200.00 cash award and Friends Choice — $100.00 cash award
  • Winning artwork may be photographed for possible publication in the media and on the Friends of Franklin Park Arts Center website

August 20-23:     Artists pick up unsold work
